Confirmation Ministry

Emanuel’s Confirmation ministry is a program where youth 6th grade and older explore faith, grow in their relationship to Jesus Christ, and learn the teachings and history of the Lutheran  church.

Confirmation is held during the Sunday morning education hour, 10:15 – 11:15 a.m.  With regular attendance the program can be completed in two years.  In addition to class, Confirmation ministry students participate in worship as acolytes and attend a week of Confirmation camp at one of the two fine Lutheran outdoor ministry camps in the area.

In alternating years, the class topics are as follows:

Year 1:   Old Testament and New Testament Bible

Year 2:  Lutheran catechism:  the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, Apostle’s Creed, Holy Baptism, Holy Communion.  Church History and final preparation for the Rite of Confirmation.

Youth can join in at any point in the two-year program and will be ready to participate in the Rite of Confirmation after all units have been completed.
